John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado who specialized in folk music, has touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Germandorf in Roswell near New Mexico fell in Love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. Denver's most popular songs about his new state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver was the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver is now the embodiment of the state to people all over. Through my travels I've encountered people from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform them you're from Colorado, the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked with small folk groups. The song was composed in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version and knew it would become a top 10 hit. The song was first recorded several weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
